Utility of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging in identifying the potential structural heart disease for ventricular arrhythmia before ablation

چکیده
Background Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) is a powerful tool to identify the arrhythmia substrate in patients with ischemic or non-ischemic cardiomyopathy. However, the performance and diagnostic yield of CMR in pre-ablation evaluation for ventricular arrhythmia in patients without known structural heart disease was still unknown. In the present study, we sought to investigate the performance of CMR in identifying the potential structural heart disease or substrate for ventricular arrhythmia in pre-ablation patients.

The Correlation between Left and Right Ventricular Ejection Fractions in Patients with Ischemic Heart Disease, Documented by Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Introduction: The correlation between right and left ventricular ejection fractions (RVEF and LVEF, respectively) has been studied in only a small number of patients with a marked decrease in RVEF and LVEF. The aim of the present study was to compare LVEF and RVEF in patients with ischemic heart disease. RVEF and LVEF were measured by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (CMR) imaging. Materials a...
متن کاملRight ventricular Hemodynamic Alteration after Pulmonary Valve Replacement in Children with Congenital Heart Disease
Introduction: In patients who underwent surgery to repair Tetralogy of Fallot, right ventricular dilation from pulmonary regurgitation may be result in right ventricular failure, arrhythmias and cardiac arrest. Hence, pulmonary valve replacement may be necessary to reduce right ventricular volume overload. The aim of present study was to assess the effects of pulmonary valve replacement on rig...
متن کاملRole of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging in the Management and Treatment of Ventricular Tachycardia in Patients With Structural Heart Disease.
Treatment for ventricular tachycardia (VT) generally includes 1 or more of the following options: antiarrhythmic therapy, an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator and/or catheter ablation. Catheter ablation is performed with an electroanatomic mapping system to define the heart's 3D anatomy, as well as regions of scar. Radiofrequency energy is then applied to areas of abnormal substrate within...
متن کاملScar characteristics derived from two- and three-dimensional reconstructions of cardiac contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance images: Relationship to ventricular tachycardia inducibility and ablation success
BACKGROUND The relationship between cardiac contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (CE-MRI)-derived scar characteristics and substrate for ventricular tachycardia (VT) in patients with structural heart disease (SHD) has not been fully investigated. METHODS This study included 51 patients (mean age, 63.3±15.1 years) who underwent CE-MRI with SHD and VT induction testing before ablation. ...
